INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN












Today, November 25, is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

This important date for us, for our children, our families, our friends, has been releasing demonstrations and public events commemorating the victims of gender violence since 1960, day and year in which three courageous women (Mirabal sisters) were brutally murdered.
Since then this date was marked to honor and remember every woman who has lost his life at the hands of bullies.

In December 1999 the General Assembly of the United Nations and recognized officially declared November 25 as International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to support victims and fight for eradicate child abuse in any form.

Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations:

"Violence against women is perhaps the most shameful human rights violation. As long as we can not say we are making real progress towards equality, development and peace. "
